So as I teased in my last post, there is indeed a companion piece to the newborn pants I showed last week. It’s a little hat, complete with ears and antlers. Friends, it came out so stinking cute. I am truly thankful for all the amazing designers out there!

#262 – Baby Deer Pants
Over the Christmas break, I was asked if I could make a set of newborn clothes for a photo shoot! This was an easy ‘yes’ for me – I love love love babies, and I have a firm belief that anything baby-sized is automatically ten times cuter.
I’ve called these my experimental socks because I didn’t follow a specific pattern for them. This felt like a really bold step for me, given that I haven’t been making socks for so long, and socks can be a bit finicky in terms having so many different sections. For an experiment, I quite like how they turned out!
I’m trying to work my way through some of my yarn stash, and this was a perfect project for a TV and knit binge. The diagonal stitches reminded me of Christmas trees (especially in the green colour), which seemed fitting for this month of December.
I’ve put myself on a strict yarn diet for the last few weeks, and it’s been kind of fun looking for the right projects for the yarn in my stash. Now that I feel more comfortable with knitting, I figured it was high time that I look for a knitted headband pattern to try out!

This was my first time ever participating in a knit-along or pattern challenge! Nicole posted that everyone who finished a pair of her mittens in a week would be entered to win a prize, and since I already owned this mittens pattern, this was all the motivation I needed to cast-on.
I’m not even sorry for all of the sock content on this blog these days because it brings me so much joy. This latest pair was part of a test knit for another local Alberta maker! As always, I learned so much, and am so excited to share with you.
I know this might seem a little strange, but I had never heard of a star toe before for socks! I have always used the Kitchener stitch for cuff-down socks, and Judy’s Magic Cast-On for toe-up socks, so it was new to me when I came across this technique for a new pair of socks.
Continue reading#245 – Striped Brioche Shawl
I had always intended to give this shawl as a gift, but I was so so close to keeping this for myself when I saw how it turned out. The gradual fade of the accent colours with the beige neutral looked amazing, and the brioche made for the softest, squishiest shawl I had ever made.
