It has been such a long time since I’ve made a pie, but when my friend asked me to do a baking date together, I jumped at the opportunity. She wanted to make a full size pie for her coworker, but there were enough leftover scraps for me to make a mini peach pie!

#376 – Lemon Bars
I was fortunate enough to be invited over to dinner at a friend’s house for Easter long weekend, and I knew that I wanted to bring a dessert that matched the occasion. To me, lemon bars have that fresh zest that I associate with spring, so I figured this was a good time to try a new recipe!
Whenever my work has a potluck, my default move is to bring a dessert, mostly because I am still not great at cooking, and baking feels so much easier to me. This time, in honour of autumn and upcoming Halloween, I decided to try make some pumpkin bread!
Continue reading#339 – Sour Cream Banana Bread
I know that I’ve already posted a myriad of banana breads on this blog, but I’m still on my quest to find my favourite recipe. This one is a little different due to its inclusion of sour cream, and I quite like how it turned out!
If you have ever celebrated a birthday with me, you may have had a chance to try my traditional birthday cake, a Skor cake. To the best of my knowledge, this was a creation my mother made up when my brothers and I were kids. It remains my favourite cake, even after trying some of the best that Edmonton has to offer.

To be honest, I didn’t love it, but I feel like both the good and less ideal crafting adventures should be documented.
This week, it was my turn to bring food for a potluck at work, and I immediately claimed the dessert slot. While my cooking has improved (I hope), it’s still baking where I feel the most comfortable in the kitchen. I decided that I couldn’t go wrong with a classic brownie recipe.
Continue reading#322 – Egg Custard Bun (奶黄包)
Sorry not sorry for yet another Chinese bakery post, but this is just where I am at this point of my life. I have no regrets. When I saw that Kristina’s cookbook also included a recipe for 奶黄包, I knew I would have to try it.
Continue reading#321 – Cocktail Bun (雞尾包)
When I was browsing Chapters the other day, I saw a really interesting new cookbook titled ‘Mooncakes and Milk Bread’ by Kristina Cho that specialized in Chinese baked goods. I have not had the greatest luck with milk bread in the past, so I was excited to give it another try.
In a bid to supplement my lack of cooking and prevent starvation, I’ve been exploring baking. I have some ingredients that were close to expiry, so I wanted to find a yummy recipe that would use up ingredients like almond and coconut flour. I wasn’t sure that this would taste as good as a ‘regular’ carrot cake recipe, but this blew me away!
