#352 – Pumpkin Bread

Whenever my work has a potluck, my default move is to bring a dessert, mostly because I am still not great at cooking, and baking feels so much easier to me. This time, in honour of autumn and upcoming Halloween, I decided to try make some pumpkin bread!

Recipe by Jenn at Once Upon a Chef

If you are a longtime supporter of my blog, or maybe just really good at navigating the Search section, you will see that this is not my first time writing about pumpkin recipes. It turns out I am a little predictable in gravitating to the same flavours, but I do think that this newest recipe has more of that cinnamon-nutmeg-clove punch to it that I was apparently looking for way back in 2017! To be honest, I don’t really remember the old flavours. Mostly, I remember the people that I baked and snacked on those original recipes with, and I think that’s the more important part.

Pumpkin Bread with Maple Icing

I also added a maple cream cheese icing, and that brought out another tone to the pumpkin flavour. I normally don’t bother with icing, but I’ve been told by multiple people in my life that icing is always a must. I mean, how wrong can you go with icing sugar and cream cheese? On a more serious note, I really do think that food is a such an interesting vehicle for memories, and the way it transports people back to the past in an instant is pretty magical. Maybe that’s why I love potlucks and group meals so much! The intimacy of sharing a meal and metaphorically and literally breaking bread together is irreplaceable, and I am so excited for all the meals with friends and family that I am yet to have.

Until next time, happy crafting!
