Once again, I am asking for recipes for ripe bananas, because a person can only make so much banana bread / muffins before you hit a limit. My most recent search led to these “breakfast cookies”, which attempted to use bananas to justify sweets to start the day. They ended up differently than I was expecting, but it was a fun baking experience nonetheless.

#316 – Year Cake (烤年糕)
February 1, 2022 happens to be Chinese New Year! One of my favourite traditional foods is 年糕, and being away from my family this year made me crave these touches of home more and more. I asked my Mom to send me the recipe, and I was excited to give it a whirl.
Continue reading#307 – Honey Butter Bread
One of my favourite restaurants in Edmonton, Hanjan, has this dessert item called Honey Butter Bread. It’s a super decadent, carb-loaded treat that brings me so much joy, and I’ve wanted to try recreate it for a while. With the help of my two best friends, we gave it a whirl.
I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, from physical safety to the love and care of my family and friends. I had a bit of a vehicle scare right before the long weekend, so recovering with loved ones and yummy food around me was exactly what I neeed.
I bought a jar of yeast a few months ago, so I’ve been looking for recipes that can use it up. Of course, bread is on my list of recipes to try, but cinnamon rolls also made an appearance! I used to love eating the Cinnzeo cinnamon rolls whenever I went to the mall, so I was hoping for something that would remind me of those yummy flavours, while being a touch less decadent.

Apparently I’ve looped back to the banana bread phase of COVID, but I feel like it’s kind of worth it. After all, how wrong can you go with fresh baking? This recipe was actually recommended to me last spring, but I never got around to trying it until now.
Continue reading#276 – Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
For the majority of my life, I’ve had one go-to recipe for chocolate chip cookies. My friends and I used to make it regularly, and I’ve had it memorized since elementary school. Now that I’m older, I find myself drawn to things that I would’ve turned my nose up at as a child. This means occasionally baking with oatmeal.
Continue reading#270 – Chocolate Chip Blondies
My mom always jokes that I inherited my sweet tooth from my dad. After all, we both like chocolate over salty chips, and we both like drinking juice more than water. Still, regardless of where it came from, my sweet tooth demanded that I do some baking over the weekend.
Continue reading#265 – HK Sausage Bun (腸仔包)
I don’t know if you’ve ever had the joy of going to a Chinese bakery, but smelling (and eating) a fresh bun is one of the best feelings. Growing up, my favourite buns were the cocktail buns (雞尾包) and the sausage buns (腸仔包). I saw a recipe for the sausage bun the other day, and knew I would have to try it.
Continue reading#247 – Apple Zucchini Bread
In true fall fashion, people have been sharing the bounties of their gardens with me! I currently have a crate of honeycrisp apples (my favourite) and a giant zucchini. I wanted something a little less labour intensive than an apple pie, so a quick Google search gave me this recipe, and it was amazing.
