#235 – Rainbow Loom

So I know that I missed the boat with Rainbow Loom which had its heyday in 2013, but this was the first time I actually got to try doing it! My babysitting kids have been really into it, and I can definitely see the appeal.

If I had been in elementary when the Rainbow Loom became popular, I would have been absolutely obsessed. You can start and finish a bracelet within 20 minutes, there are so many colour options, and it would be so fun to make and trade these with friends!

This is also an extremely child-friendly craft! My babysitting kids this week are 10 and 7, and can each do this independently. They have made bracelets for their parents, grandparents, and cousins! I’m sure if COVID-19 wasn’t still a factor, they would have made some for all their friends as well. I feel super lucky to be the recipient of some of their crafting as well!

Back in 2013, a few of the girls that I coached ringette for actually made me a few bracelets, and I still have them. I remember thinking how cute the bracelets looked, but really, the genius of the Rainbow Loom is in its simplicity. I know this sounds like an ad, but it’s not. I just thoroughly enjoyed my Rainbow Loom experience.

Until next time, happy crafting!
