#236 – Pen Pals

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it, but my best friend and I used to write letters to each others on the regular. I loved opening up my backpack and finding a new letter to reply to! Now that I’m older, I’m excited to start on a new pen pal journey!

  • Paper and Envelope
  • Postage
  • OPTIONAL: Washi tape; Stickers; Coloured pencils

I spent this year serving with the high school fellowship at my church, and one of the Grade 12’s is planning to move away for university! At the graduation celebrations, she mentioned that she was looking for some old-school pen pals, and I jumped at the opportunity. It’s a lot of fun to get something in the mail that isn’t a bill or junk mail!

First off, Cindy is way more creative than I will ever be! Her first letter to me included a little crossword puzzle to get to know her, and one of her favourite recipes. It was so neat to get to know her in an original way. I had been planning to write a boring letter on lined paper, but seeing her creativity sparked my own.

Again, there is no right or wrong way to be a pen pal with someone, as long as you write back regularly. I’m excited to continue to develop my friendship with Cindy and to see what will be included in our next letters to each other!

Until next time, happy crafting!
