So I know that I missed the boat with Rainbow Loom which had its heyday in 2013, but this was the first time I actually got to try doing it! My babysitting kids have been really into it, and I can definitely see the appeal.

#199 – Steel Stamping
I’m not sure if you remember this trend, but there was a phase where custom washer (as in hardware screws and washers) jewelry was very popular. The idea of personalizing something has always been my weakness, so experimenting with steel stamping has always been on my backburner. When I had a 50% off coupon and I saw this steel stamping set at Michael’s, it was an instant impulse buy.

The nice thing about crafting is that it’s always okay to come back to old interests. Every once in a blue moon, my brothers will ask me if I can make something specific for them. My answer is almost always yes! In this case, it was a bracelet with sports-themed colours!
What is old is new again, and I am so happy that scrunchies are back in vogue. I almost always have my hair tied up, so it’s nice to have cute options that add a bit of flair!
Crafting is always more fun when it’s done together, so when my friend asked if I wanted to help her make Disney-themed headbands for her, I jumped at the opportunity! She’s heading Disney World over the Christmas break, so this was a perfect post-exam activity. We ended up making two headbands, one crocheted and one out of felt.
#49 – Beaded Bobby Pins
The most inconvenient length of bangs for me has always been the in-between stage, where it’s too short to tuck behind your ears, but too long to leave natural. At this point, bobby pins are a necessity, but if you’re anything like me, you find these utilitarian items a bit boring. Here’s a fun and easy way to dress them up!
#46 – Bat Bow
When I was little, my mother made four Halloween costumes (one each for my three brothers and I) and as the years passed, getting bigger meant moving to the next costume in the line-up! I started off as a turtle, became a pumpkin, then a Native American, before finally becoming a dinosaur. However, my favourite costume was the turtle, hands down. I loved this handmade aspect to Halloween, and I was very excited to keep it going this year.
#15 – Pandora
Confession: I’m a sucker for personalization. I love the idea of being able to customize things to reflect your own story and so things like Pandora really appeal to me. However, sometimes I find the standard Pandora bracelet a bit much to wear with a casual outfit, especially if I’m already wearing a watch and the charms keep clinking against the watch face. Therefore, I like to get creative with the charms so that I can add my own twist!
#12 – Twist Bracelet
This week I wanted to challenge myself to create something new again, so here is my second original pattern! This little guy is a great way to use up some of those mini leftover yarn balls, as well as create a cute accessory that is great for gifting or keeping for yourself!
#2 – “Wings” Friendship Bracelet
I learned how to make my first friendship bracelet when I was 12 or so. Of course, it wasn’t half as fancy as this one – just a simple diagonal pattern was about all I could handle. Still, the nice thing about friendship bracelets is that once you learn the two knots, you can make anything!
