Okay, I know I say this a lot, but this was one of my favourite test knit projects that I have ever done. The design is timeless, and the joy I had in making this project was unbelievable. This particular sweater is destined for a friend, but I have half a mind to cast on a second one, because that’s how much I enjoyed it.

#363 – Cabled Mittens
Over the years, I’ve made a lot of promises to a lot of different people to knit or crochet different things for them. Unfortunately, I don’t always remember to follow through with it, so I am thankful for how gracious others have been in terms of patience and gentle reminders. This is one of those cases, where my friend has been waiting very politely for a pair of mittens.
Over the holiday break, I redid my yarn inventory and realized that I own way too much yarn. Somehow, even though I have been trying hard to only buy yarn when I have a designated project, I still have a giant stash of new and partially used skeins. I really need to start choosing projects to work through it, so I decided to start with this cabled stash-busting striped project.
Continue reading#360 – Mommy and Mini Set
I think that matching is an underrated declaration of love, so when it was time for me to tackle my list of homemade Christmas presents, I knew a matching Mommy and Mini set would be on my list. I also knew that I would be short on time, so a bulky or super bulky project would be ideal.
Continue reading#356 – Continental vs. English Knitting
I have historically been an English knitter. However, I’ve seen the argument made that continental knitting is less tiring because the movements are smaller. As a result, I’ve been trying to make the switch. If both of these terms mean absolutely nothing to you, then boy howdy, do I have a quick summary post for you.
In my mind, socks are the perfect travel project. They’re easy to pack into a purse, they work up quick, and they’re a functional project once you’re done! Besides, trips always have a surprising amount of downtime, such as when you’re sitting in the airport or bus station, or waiting in line to get where you want, and having a little knitting project makes time fly by. For my most recent trip, I decided to finally tackle this project that has been in my Ravelry queue for a while.
Now that we’re past the official first day of autumn, I figured it would be a good time to break out the fall-themed decor! I’ve seen a lot of makers selling handmade pumpkins in fall markets, so I thought I would try to track down a pattern. Luckily, I found two, one for knitting and one for crochet! This week will be about the knit version.
Continue reading#345 – Double Crossed Tank
With all of the options out there, I’ve gotten in the habit of applying for test knits based solely on the who the designer is. When this option came up, I knew I wanted in. Charissa has a talent for a designing a clean, timeless look, and this tank top is a great example of everyday basics. I’ve applied for her designs before, so I was thrilled when I was finally accepted!
As much as I love winter sports and activities, I think my soul is made for summer and sunshine. There’s just something about being outside with the sun shining that makes any day extra joyful, and those days are even better with a cute outfit to suit the weather. I loved being able to test this crop t-shirt pattern, and I hope that others will be able to enjoy this project this summer too!
I still think that it’s really funny the creator of the i-cord technique chose the name because she felt it was ’idiot proof’, but hey, if you invent something, you can name it whatever you like. I had never seen it adapted for a bind-off before, but I really like the rolled edge it provides.
