#345 – Double Crossed Tank

With all of the options out there, I’ve gotten in the habit of applying for test knits based solely on the who the designer is. When this option came up, I knew I wanted in. Charissa has a talent for a designing a clean, timeless look, and this tank top is a great example of everyday basics. I’ve applied for her designs before, so I was thrilled when I was finally accepted!

  • 3/5 skeins of Malabrigo Yarn Sock – a fingering weight (1) yarn (colour: Matisse Blue)
  • Size 6 (4.00mm) knitting needles (I used Knitter’s Pride 80cm circulars)

I know that this tank top looks pretty basic at first glance, but there are a couple of little details that I really enjoyed in Charissa’s design! For starters, she took the time to include an i-cord bind-off on all the edges, and I think it gives it such a polished look. For another, she added a split strap design for the back, which gives it a touch of whimsy.

If I could do this again, the only difference I would make is to lengthen the body of the tank top. As it is, it’s more of a crop top, which is cute, but a little more limiting for colder weather. With a longer top, I’d be able to tuck it into my waistband and pair it with a cute oversized cardigan for a perfect autumn outfit! I’ve been trying to think if there is an easier way to add yarn to a finished object, but as it is, I’m a little stuck. I secretly want to turn it into a bodysuit, so if anyone has any thoughts on that, I would welcome the advice.

As a side note, I am so in love with how rich this shade of blue is. I could honestly make all my personal projects with this colour if my standard wardrobe wasn’t all black, white, and grey neutrals. Still, it’s always important to have accent pieces, right?

Until next time, happy crafting!
