#307 – Honey Butter Bread

One of my favourite restaurants in Edmonton, Hanjan, has this dessert item called Honey Butter Bread. It’s a super decadent, carb-loaded treat that brings me so much joy, and I’ve wanted to try recreate it for a while. With the help of my two best friends, we gave it a whirl.

We stopped by T&T Supermarket to get our milk bread for this recipe, and we were surprised by the different options! Sometimes, there are one-off ‘specialty’ loaves that sound really yummy, so if you’re feeling adventurous, you could even branch out from the milk bread option. Personally, I love milk bread more than plain white bread, as it is often softer and fluffier. We also changed the recipe by using an air fryer instead of an oven. We made this change to avoid having to heat up the oven, but I think it paid off. In my opinion, the air fryer made the bread a bit crispier than the oven would have, almost like a toast! However, I have no actual proof since we didn’t make a comparison loaf, so we’ll never know for sure.

Homemade Honey Butter Bread

Whenever my friends and I get the Hanjan version, we split it because it’s too rich for one person to eat alone. Our homemade version was much less sweet and decadent than the Hanjan version, but on the flip side, we could each eat more of it! It’s so nice to be able to control the sweetness of a dessert to suit your own tastebuds. Have you ever tried to replicate a favourite restaurant dessert? There was a time where I also obsessed with the White Chocolate Brownie from Moxies, so I might have to try copying that next.

Until next time, happy crafting!
