#306 – “V” Socks

It might seem counterintuitive to use a lace design when your goal is cozy socks, but somehow this pattern makes it work! I was surprised at how warm these socks kept my feet, and they’re my new go-to for wearing around the house. I thoroughly enjoyed the design of these socks, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a quick project!

  • 2/5 skein of Rocky Mountain Yarn Co. Banff DK – a DK weight (3) yarn (colour: Chocolate Truffle)
  • Size 4 (3.50mm) knitting needles (I used Knitter’s Pride 80cm circulars)

Listen, these socks are magical. The repeats are easy to get the hang of, but there’s still enough variation to keep you interested. I worked up one sock in a single evening, and I’m pretty sure I could have gotten most of the way through the second if I had tried. I think these would make a great last-minute Christmas gift!

I already mentioned how fascinating I found the Turkish heel design that Katie used for this pattern, and her step-by-step instructions made it so easy! Katie also makes sure to include YouTube tutorials for the cast-on and cast-off techniques, which makes it so handy when you’re trying something new. I really enjoyed testing for her, and would definitely do it again if I had another opportunity. Katie also sews the MOST gorgeous project bags, and I’ve had one on my wish list for a few months now. I’m hoping that I can pick one up on her next Etsy update!

As a side note, when I was little, I used to despise wearing socks / slippers at home. My dad actually used to have to nag me all the time, but I loved running around barefoot. Now, even putting a toe on a cold floor has me running for warm footwear. It’s so funny how we sometimes subconsciously become more like our parents as we grow up.

Until next time, happy crafting!
