#237 – Face Scrubbies

Now that I’m solidly in my mid-twenties, I’ve decided to take skin care more seriously. My previous skin care regimen was just washing my face with water. so it’s been an adjustment even remembering to use face cream every day. Anyways, I wanted an eco-friendly way to support my new skin care!

  • 1/20 skein of Patons Grace — a DK weight (3) yarn (above: Ginger)
  • 3.00mm hook

These worked up extremely quickly, and the little puffs do a great job of absorbing the product and spreading it evenly across the face. The only change I made was to add a round of single crochet to help make the scrubby look more finished.

I have no scientific evidence to support this, but I made sure to choose a yarn that was 100% cotton. In my mind, cotton is both gentle on skin and easy to clean? I’m basing this on the fact that most people use cotton pads for their skin care, so I figured cotton yarn is the closest I can get to that. If there is someone out there who has more insight about skin care or cotton, please let me know if I’m crazy or if this is a real thing!

My friend suggested doing a batch of face scrubbies with a fruit theme, and I think that would be super cute! I just have to track down the right yarn colours, but I think oranges, watermelons, and lemons will definitely be making an appearance soon.

Until next time, happy crafting!
