#206 – Double Crochet Toque

This is the perfect pattern for December – it works up unbelievably quickly AND they make great last-minute gifts in case you forgot that you were someone’s Secret Santa or your present is feeling a little lackluster. This is Canada after all, and everyone can always use an extra toque.

  • 4/5 skein of Loops and Threads Charisma – a bulky (5) weight yarn (above: Forest)
  • Size P (11.5 mm) hook

I left the pom-poms off (as usual), but other than that, I didn’t change anything with this pattern. Because of the large gauge hook and loose pattern, this isn’t the warmest hat that you’ll ever wear, but I’ve found even loosely crocheted/knit hats can help keep you warm in the winter.

There was a phase in my life where I was in love with Loops and Threads Charisma. It’s reasonably priced, it’s surprisingly soft to the touch, and it’s acrylic, so it’s fairly low maintenance (machine washable!). It also comes in a wide range of colours, which is always helpful. At some point, I fell in love with fingering weight instead of bulky yarn, but I will probably always have a few skeins of this in my stash. Is there a yarn in your stash that is your go-to?

Until next time, happy crafting!
