I finally had some free time on my hands, so I went back and tried to salvage the unfortunate rhino lovey from a few months ago. Since the yarn was white, I figured that a bunny was a safe animal choice with a higher chance of recognition from my friends and family. I just needed some floppy ears and a wiggly pink nose.

#382 – Rhino Lovey
My mom told me that this was one of the least cute, ugly, unlovable things I had ever made, and she was dead serious when she said it. On one hand, her feedback made me laugh, and on the other, hand I was instantly crushed. I figured that I would write it up anyways, as not all projects can be winners.

This is yet another throwback post, but it reminds me of when I was younger and seemed to have infinitely more time to creative. It was made as part of a crafting blitz for donations, but I remember really loving the texture on the hat, and the ribbing on the brim. The one downside was that the hat seemed a little wide, so it was best suited for a larger headed person.

I’m sorry, but I haven’t been crafting as much lately, so this week is back to the archives to find another hidden gem. Most of the time I’m still in awe that this blog has been running more or less regularly since December 2015, so if some of my posts are scraping the bottom of the barrel, I hope you can forgive me. This post is about a super cute puff stitch scarf that ended up being a gift to a friend, so I have no idea what happened to it.

I was doing a deep dive into my Ravelry account the other day, and I noticed that I had some very old projects that I had never written about. It’s a trippy feeling to look back on something I made over eight years ago and to see how far I have come, and what has stayed the same. I remember feeling so proud of this circle scarf, and feeling so special gifting it to my mom.

I’ve been meaning to try and make an amigurumi Pokémon for the longest time, so when my friend’s birthday came up, I decided a stuffie version of his favourite Pokémon would be a sure hit. Luckily, his favourite Pokémon happens to be a pretty popular choice, so there were multiple patterns for Umbreon floating around on the Internet. All I had to do was choose one!

I don’t know if I mentioned it, but my Lamb Lovey ended up going to one of my coworker’s little ones! She actually has two children, so the first question that I got was to ask where the second one was. Having come from a bigger family myself, I definitely agree that fairness should be a thing, so I agreed to whip up another lovey. This time, the requested animal was a kitty.

Almost everything is cuter in miniature size, so when I needed some last minute winter-themed decoration, I decided that mini mittens were the way to go! After a little trial and error to get the sizing right, I arrived at a quick and easy pattern to make tiny mittens out of my stash of leftover yarn ends. Who knew that my hoarding could be so helpful?

With the leftover yarn from the Chicken Hat, I knew I would have to make something super fluffy. There is a local maker who specializes in making loveys (a snuggly stuffed animal and blanket hybrid), and families absolutely adore her stall at markets. Seeing her finished products inspired me to give loveys a try, with my own spin of course. Since my yarn is white, I thought a lamb would be a safe choice.

When a friend of mine asked if I would be able to help her make a Halloween costume for her toddler, I was so excited. Her vision was to create a chicken costume with yellow tights and a feathered boa, but she just needed a hat to top it off. When I started, I wasn’t entirely sure how I would make it happen, but I absolutely loved how it turned out.
