For the last few years, I’ve been trying to build up a little arsenal of toques, scarves, and mittens to donate each winter. Seeing as it’s almost spring (fingers crossed) I wasn’t able to do it this winter, but maybe this can be the start of a stash for next year.
- 2 skeins of Lion Brand Lion’s Pride Woolspun – a bulky weight (5) yarn (above colour A: Sea Mist Mix)
- 1/2 skein of Loops and Threads Charisma – a bulky weight (5) yarn (above colour B: Greyhound)
- Size K (6.50 mm) hook
Pattern by tick-tock hobbies
(abbreviations: HDC = half-double crochet; DC = double crochet)
- Starting with colour A, foundation-double-crochet one hundred and ninety stitches. (190 stitches)
- Chain-one and turn. Starting in the second stitch from the hook, work a HDC into each stitch across the row. (190 stitches)
- Chain-two and turn. Starting in the second stitch from the hook, work a DC into the back loop of each stitch across the row. (190 stitches)
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the scarf is as wide as you would like! I did rows five and six in the contrasting colour B, but feel free to customize this scarf however you would like.
These dark colours feel a bit moody to me, but I think it’s fitting for the winter months. I am definitely less cheery and energetic during the winter, and I never really notice it until the sun comes back! If anyone has tips for beating the winter blahs, please let me know.
Until next time, happy crafting!
