#166 – Lattice Hat

I know I’ve been posting a lot of non-crochet projects lately, and if I’m being honest, I wasn’t really feeling crochet for a little bit. I just didn’t find it motivating, but I think I am back in the groove!

  • 1/2 skein of Caron Cakes – a worsted (4) weight yarn (above: Buttercream)
  • Size G (4.00 mm) hook
  • Size H (5.00 mm) hook

MODIFICATION by tick-tock hobbies

I think this was an accidental modification, but I think that I was doing my front post crochets in the post of the stitch, instead of the overlap area, which meant that my lattice looked a little more open and a little less solidly closed. Still, I didn’t mind this look, as they reminded me of gentle cross-overs that someone might do on the ice.

I know that slow colour-change yarn cakes are no longer the hot topic item they once were two years or so ago, but I still love them. I think they elevate patterns, and it just makes a basic stitch or repetition look more fun without the hassle of actually having to change different skeins of yarn and sew in ends. The fact that they design all the colour fades for you is also really nice, especially if you know that you are a person drawn to certain palettes and tones. My personal weaknesses are neutral greys and browns OR a nice blue ombré.

Until next time, happy crafting!
