#124 – Triangle Ripple Shawl

A few months ago, I fell in love with yarn from Autumn and Indigo, and I knew I wanted to make a shawl with it! Before crochet, I honestly never looked twice at shawls. To be completely honest, I thought they were a bit random, but now that I crochet, I love them. They’re so practical for that in-between weather, and they’re great from a fashion perspective too.

  • 1 skein of Autumn and Indigo Classic Sock — a fingering weight (1) yarn (above: Girl Next Door: Oopsie)
  • 4.5 mm hook

Pattern by Silke at Maschenzähler Design

Even though Silke is German, she does have her patterns written in English, and she also provides stitch diagrams. That’s the beauty of stitch diagrams, as they help to make beautiful crochet designs available to people all over the world!

I didn’t have quite enough yarn to do three repeats AND the border, so I just stuck with three repeats. I am hoping that I can revisit this shawl on a later date and add more yarn to finish up the shawl as the pattern intends, because I did also splurge on some mini skeins from Autumn and Indigo as well.

As a side note, I was so happy a few months ago when I won a contest on Instagram for two free watches for my best friend and myself from Berg and Betts! They are a local Edmonton company that believes in sustainable fashion, so the straps of their watches are all made with “waste” leather from the fashion industry. It’s hard to think of something so beautiful as “waste”, but I love this tenet of their company. The burgundy strap seemed to pair so well with the pink of this yarn, that I figured it deserved a picture of its own.

I’m hoping that if I make more spring-centered pieces, nice weather will come to Edmonton faster, so hopefully this will be the first of many more spring projects!

Until next time, happy crafting!
