#391 – Bunny Lovey

I finally had some free time on my hands, so I went back and tried to salvage the unfortunate rhino lovey from a few months ago. Since the yarn was white, I figured that a bunny was a safe animal choice with a higher chance of recognition from my friends and family. I just needed some floppy ears and a wiggly pink nose.

As a reminder, the head, body, arms, and legs are all from Tara’s pattern, and they were originally designed for a hippopotamus. Nevertheless, I thought it could be repurposed for a passably cute bunny, so my first move was to remove the ears and snout from my hippo/rhino monstrosity. I considered taking out the stitched eyes as well, but to be honest, I didn’t think I could do better than my first attempt. Instead, I focused on the ears.

(abbreviations: SC = single crochet; INC = two single crochet into one stitch; DEC = one single crochet over two stitches)

Bunny lovey

To be honest, this bunny ended up reminding me of the Cinnamoroll bunny from Sanrio. I think it’s the slightly sideways ears that trigger the resemblance, but I mean, the character is adorable, so hopefully other people make the same connection? I used to have a friend who loved Cinnamoroll even more than she liked Hello Kitty, so I feel like that’s saying something. At any rate, this version was a lot better received when I showed it around, so we’ll count it as a success.

Until next time, happy crafting!
