#380 – Wide Ribbed Toque

This is yet another throwback post, but it reminds me of when I was younger and seemed to have infinitely more time to creative. It was made as part of a crafting blitz for donations, but I remember really loving the texture on the hat, and the ribbing on the brim. The one downside was that the hat seemed a little wide, so it was best suited for a larger headed person.

  • 100g / 100m of Lion Bran Yarn Wool-Ease Tonal – a bulky weight (5) yarn (above colour: Burnt Orange)
  • Size J (6.0mm) hook

Pattern by Catherine at Yarn Cat (discontinued)

Visually, this hat made me think of old fishermen and weathered beards. Unfortunately, the designer did not share my instincts, because she actually was thinking of snowboarders and skull caps. At any rate, I really liked the textural element of this hat. I made the Dude version of this hat, and I preferred the smoother and flatter brim.

Wide Ribbed Toque

It seems kind of bittersweet that the original blog has now closed, but I guess that’s probably the sad reality for most small craft blogs. Life happens and people move on from old interests. It’s a mini reality check that keeps me thankful that I still get to write these posts, even though I am definitely not as dedicated to posting as I used to be. I don’t really know what the long term plan for this blog is, but thank you for being here.

Until next time, happy crafting!
