#330 – Tubular Cast-On

It’s so interesting how different techniques can change the whole look of a project! With this new test knit, there were a lot of learning opportunities, starting with the cast-on. I like how the tubular cast-on is meant to match 1×1 ribbing so well, and I’m excited to show you.

  • Appropriate gauge needles

I honestly don’t have much to say about this technique. It was designed for 1×1 ribbing, and it matches perfectly. From what I can tell based on light Googling, it is also a fairly stretchy cast-on, which makes it great for necklines and cuffs for top-down socks.

I love the Purl Soho website for their tutorial videos and written descriptions, and I’ve never been led astray by their information. I can’t imagine having to learn without demonstrations, so I’m always thankful for technology. I suppose in the past, people would have asked their mothers or other relatives for lessons though, and that’s special in another way.

I’m definitely falling behind on this test knit project, but I’m hoping to catch up soon. Claire (Autumn and Indigo) is a wonderful pattern designer but even lovelier person, so I don’t want to let her down. Life has felt a little hectic, but a soothing knit project is just what I need to calm back down.

Until next time, happy crafting!
