#264 – Dotted Beanie

Even though this winter has been mild so far, I can’t help but feel that more snow and colder weather might be in store before the spring. Luckily, pattern testing always gives me the motivation I need to get more warm winter accessories made.

  • 1/2 skein of Isaac Mizrahi Craft Beauty – a light weight (3) yarn (colour: Princess)
  • Size 10 (6.00mm) knitting needles (I used Knitter’s Pride 60cm circulars)

Pattern by Mollie at White Owl Crochet Co.

This is basically a perfect pattern for knitting and TV for two main reasons – the pattern repeat is so easy to learn, and the large gauge needles make this project fly off the needles. I know that it’s after Christmas now, but it’s never too early to start making gifts for next year, right? This could be a good candidate for that!

I really like the stretchiness that this toque ended up with! Again, the large gauge needles help a lot with that, and it means that it will fit a surprising amount of heads. The only downside is that the looser weave means that it isn’t as warm as other toques might be, so just keep that in mind for what you want to wear this hat for.

Mollie curated a really nice group of testers, and the atmosphere in the group chat was one of the nicest ones I’ve been in. We all had the chance to introduce ourselves and even share pet pictures, which is always entertaining. If you ever have the chance to pattern test, I highly recommend it as it can put you into a wonderful community of creatives.

Until next time, happy crafting!
