#163 – Basic Headband

Sometimes, you just want to keep it simple, especially when the weather forecast looks as chilly as it does. I had some yarn leftover from the Spike Stitch hat, so I figured a headband was the perfect choice!

  • 1/4 skein of Caron x Pantone – a bulky weight (5) yarn (above: Provincial Lilac)
  • Size J (6.0 mm) hook

Pattern by tick-tock hobbies

  1. Chain-sixty-six stitches. Beginning in the second stitch from the hook, do a half-double crochet in each stitch. Slip stitch to first half-double crochet at the end of the round.
  2. Change colours. Chain-one. Half-double-crochet in each stitch around the circle. Slip stitch to the first stitch at the end of each round.
  3. Repeat step 2 until the headband is as wide as desired.

I don’t think anyone can claim this “pattern”, since it’s just half-double crochets in the round. Still, I love the simplicity of the stitches, and the colours are just as divine as I remember from making the Spike Stitch hat!

This works up super quickly due to the bulky weight of the yarn, and the softness of this yarn means it’s extra cozy on the ears! The forecast has much of North America headed into a “polar vortex”, so I’m glad I have a hobby that lets me keep warm.

Until next time, happy crafting!
