#157 – Criss-Cross Headband

As always, winter in Edmonton is cold. I figured my ears could use a helper to stay warm, so that was my initial motivation for tackling this super cute pattern.

  • 1/20 skein of Caron Cakes – a worsted (4) weight yarn (above: Buttercream)
  • Size K (6.5mm) hook

I was pretty much crocheting on autopilot when I made this headband, so I’m not exactly sure where I went wrong. The original chain length did fit around my head when I started, but apparently after the criss-crossing, it shrunk quite a bit. I would say that my finished product probably fits a toddler or young child, at most now.

Still, I love the design of the simple criss-cross, and I would definitely be down to try this pattern again with a longer initial chain. Like I said, it’s easy to do on autopilot or during a Netflix binge session, so I can see myself making more of these in the future.

Now I just need to find someone with a little girl to pass this on to! I could see this being so cute on a three or four year old. My babysitting children are all a bit too old for that now, but a couple of my classmates have announced pregnancies, so maybe one of them will be a little girl.

Until next time, happy crafting!
