#154 – Slouchy Toque

Each winter, I try to create a little stockpile of hats and scarves so that I can have them ready to give out to whoever needs them. I think that there is just something about a slouchy toque that is so timeless.

  • 1 skein of Lion’s Pride Woolspun – a bulky weight (5) yarn (above: Cranberry)
  • Size L (8.00 mm) hook

I ended up sizing down the hook, just because my choices were either 8.00mm or 11.5mm, and the 8.00mm left fewer gaps in the pattern. Because of that, I actually ran out of yarn to make the brim. However, I liked the look of alternating ridges and stitches that I figured it would make a great toque even without the button and brim!

It’s not quite as slouchy as I set out to make, but honestly, learning that things don’t always turn out the way you want them to is so important, both in crafting and in real life. Figuring out how to work with it and appreciate life anyways is something that I am still striving and learning how to do.

Until next time, happy crafting!
