It’s honestly a little embarrassing because I started to make mittens with this yarn over nine months ago, but here we finally are. Thankfully, this attempt had fewer road bumps, and I was able to cross the finish line in time for my friend’s birthday.

#363 – Cabled Mittens
Over the years, I’ve made a lot of promises to a lot of different people to knit or crochet different things for them. Unfortunately, I don’t always remember to follow through with it, so I am thankful for how gracious others have been in terms of patience and gentle reminders. After a little trial and error to get the sizing right, I arrived at a quick and easy pattern to make tiny mittens out of my stash of leftover yarn ends. This summer, a few of my friends from church went on a short-term missions trip to Ghana. As part of their fundraising efforts, they hosted a service auction, where people could offer up services or items, with all proceeds going to the missions trip. I auctioned off a crocheted item, and the top bidder chose mittens for his girlfriend!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season spent with loved ones! I didn’t quite make most of my deadlines for homemade Christmas gifts, but these quick little mittens did make the cut.

I love having cozy mittens to wear in the winter! When I saw this pattern, I knew I had to make them. They reminded me a bit of the knitted mittens that they sell at Aritzia, so that was a huge bonus.
