#340 – Crosswords

I’m not sure if you are a puzzle person, but word games have been a fun part of my life lately! There’s been the whole craze around Wordle since December 2021, but there will always be a soft spot in my heart for a classic crossword puzzle. You can work on a crossword solo or with a friend, and there’s a fun sense of accomplishment when you finish.

Whenever I want to do a crossword with a friend, we do it online using The Washington Post because of the great synchronization feature! This means that I can do crosswords with friends in Alberta or even Ontario while I’m in British Columbia. The crosswords get more complex moving from Monday to Sunday, so depending on our mood, we will try to pick the appropriate difficulty. It’s always funny seeing how different brains can interpret clues and make sense of the puzzle.

I remember when I was still in university, I used to do the crossword and sudoku in the Edmonton Metro between classes, and those were always easier with a friend helping as well. I always dreaded the clues with names, but sometimes you just had to take a guess and hope for the best. Sadly, the Metro is no longer in circulation, so I guess current U of A students will have to fill their time with a different puzzle. Are there any puzzles or other games that you currently like to fill your time with? Did you end up joining the Wordle craze?

Until next time, happy crafting!
