#133 – Luxury Blanket

If you recall, I previously had the chance to work with the yarn from TopKnot Style in a scarf, and I’ve always wanted to make a blanket with that yarn, but it didn’t make a lot of sense financially. When I saw that a friend was de-stashing some TopKnot Style yarn, I jumped at the chance to pick it up.

  • 8 skeins of TopKnot Style yarn – a jumbo weight (7) yarn (Colour A: Grey)
  • 1 skein of TopKnot Style yarn – a jumbo weight (7) yarn (Colour B: Winter White)
  • 25.0 mm hook

(abbreviations: HDC = half double crochet; DC = double crochet)

  1. Chain-thirty six. Starting in the second stitch from the hook, HDC in each stitch across the row. (35 stitches)
  2. Chain-two and turn. Starting in the third stitch from the hook, DC in each stitch across the row. (35 stitches)
  3. Repeat step 2.
  4. Chain-one and turn. Starting in the second stitch from the hook and working in the back loop only, HDC in each stitch across the row. (35 stitches)
  5. Repeat steps 2 – 4 as needed. I placed the colour accent stripe halfway through the blanket, but you can put it anywhere you want!

The benefits to working with such bulky yarn is that it works up amazingly quickly. I started and finished this whole blanket in under 5 hours, which is crazy considering how long it’s taken me to make blankets in the past. I think this blanket would make a great housewarming gift for some new homeowners, so I hope it finds a good home soon.

Until next time, happy crafting!
