#116 – C2C Toque

In case you haven’t noticed yet, I really like pattern testing. I think that each person brings such different elements to crochet, even if everyone is working with the same foundation of single, half-double, and double crochets. One person that I think has a very unique crochet style is Esther, from Cute as a Button.

  • Mystery Yarn! (I think it’s a worsted or bulky weight yarn (4 or 5) though)
  • Size H (5.00 mm) hook

Pattern by Esther at Cute as a Button

To be completely honest, I was a bit confused when I started this pattern, because it seemed like I was making a rectangle, and not a hat. Don’t get me wrong, this pattern does start as a rectangle, but have faith! It will turn into a toque, I promise. I’ve never seen a hat with this a design like this, so it was a good experience for me.

I know that Esther calls this the “brick” stitch, but it reminds me a lot of corner-to corner crochet, so that’s what I decided to call my version of Esther’s Kimberly Hat!

Esther is a really talented designer, and I love the way that she approaches crochet design. It’s so different from how I personally think about pattern building, so it always makes me think and reconsider the other options out there.

Until next time, happy crafting!
