I tried to clean my room this summer, and in the process I found a lot of t-shirts that were too sentimental for me to donate, but too old to be worn. As a result, I decided to look into ways to repurpose them!

#84 – Stress Ball
In all my years of education, I’ve never done summer school or taken spring classes. Until now. As part of our program, we do Spring Clinic, which has actually been really fun! The only thing is that I can feel myself burning out. I figured that the cure for this would be a quick stress-reliever project!
#81 – Maple Leaf Pillow Cover
Let’s be honest — no nation is perfect. Canada, which had its national beginnings steeped in colonialism, struggles even now with racial and gender equality. Still, I believe that Canada is a nation with potential, and I am thankful to have been born and raised in a country that strives to embrace multiculturalism and freedom. Because of that, I wanted to try crochet something special for the upcoming Canada Day!
#76 – Phone Case
I am not kind to cell phones – I tend to be clumsy, and as a result, my phone is more familiar with concrete floors than it should be. Most of the time, I haveĀ a case on my phone, but after my recent trip to LA where my phone case sacrificed itself to protect my screen, I’ve been left with no case while I wait for a new one to ship. In the meantime, I thought I’d use a crocheted case to protect my phone from the worst of it.
#73 – Sleep Mask
This week, I’m actually on vacation in LA with one of my best friends! It’s been a lot of fun exploring the city and eating yummy food. Aside from that, my friend swears by her sleep mask for travel, and I was intrigued by the idea! I’ve never really used them before, but I figured it was a worth a try to look into!
#72 – Star Blanket
My third brother, while amazing in many respects, is not the greatest at interior design. He leans more towards the bachelor lifestyle than anything else, so when he got his own place, I was excited to get the chance to shop through him. I figured that a good way to help him warm up his new apartment would be to make him a blanket!
#71 – Storage Basket
My goal has been to make more practical projects lately, especially for projects that are intended as gifts! My best friend will be moving to Saskatchewan for the next few months, and I thought that a nice storage basket would make a nice gift!
#69 – Cross Bookmark
One of my biggest markers of summer is being at a week-long summer camp I do with my church. I loved it as a camper, and now that I’m older, I love it as a counselor! I had the opportunity to talk to one of my past campers today, and I knew that I wanted to make her something special.
#67 – “Pencil” Case
In an age of PowerPoint lectures and typed up notes, I always get weird looks when I tell people I prefer to write my notes by hand. I find that it helps me remember the material better, and being able to have colour-coded notes is just a bonus! When I saw this pencil case pattern, I knew I wanted to use it for my pens.
#63 – Cabled Blanket
A crochet technique that I have always been fascinated by is the process of cabling! I think it provides such an interesting appearance, and with the whole “crochet-that-looks-like-knitting” trend going on, cabling fits right in. I’ve also been itching to make a blanket lately since winter always makes me want to cozy up under a warm throw, so all these factors came together in this project.
