As a graduation present to myself, I decided to book a trip to Japan with one of my best childhood friends! We leave at the end of this month, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve never been to Japan before, but one thing that I am definitely looking forward to is the fooooood. Continue reading

#134 – Maple Leaf
I can’t believe another year has passed, but here we are at another Canada Day! It might not be Canada’s 150th this year, but there are always a lot of fun celebrations going down. This year, I wanted to keep it simple with this little applique.
#113 – Origami Cranes
I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the story of Sadako and the thousand paper cranes, but I heard it as a child, and it really made an impression on me. For one, it stuck out to me as a plea for peace in an imperfect world, but for another, it spoke to me about hope.
#110 – Framed Maps
fernweh — (n.) a homesickness for a place you’ve never been; a longing to travel, an ache for distance. // heimweh — (n.) a desire for going home, the longing for return
These two German words may be opposites, but I feel like I inhabit both of them equally. When I’m home, I’m dreaming of far off locales, but when I’m travelling, a part of me longs for home. In order to tackle this fernweh/heimweh cycle, I decided that I wanted to ground myself and mark where home was. I was cleaning out my car when I found some old maps, and I decided this would be a perfect project!
#105 – Mini Toque
In recent years, my church has had a Christmas Carnival, and this year, I was helping with the craft table! This mini toque was a super easy craft shown to me by my friend, and it was a hit with all the visiting children!
Give-Away #4 – String Art
I actually did this Give-Away back at the beginning of July for my birthday, but I realized that I never wrote it up! I wanted to mix it up and do something a little different, so I was offering the chance to win a custom string art that the winner got to design!
#81 – Maple Leaf Pillow Cover
Let’s be honest — no nation is perfect. Canada, which had its national beginnings steeped in colonialism, struggles even now with racial and gender equality. Still, I believe that Canada is a nation with potential, and I am thankful to have been born and raised in a country that strives to embrace multiculturalism and freedom. Because of that, I wanted to try crochet something special for the upcoming Canada Day!
#80 – Weaving
About a month ago, my Instagram feed proved to be too much of a temptation for me – I saw the BrickBubble Hand Loom kit, and I knew I had to try it!
#79 – Graduation Cap
Confession: I actually graduated from university last year. At the time, I didn’t feel that nostalgic, since I knew I would be heading back to school, but seeing all of the posts that my friends were making this month has made me change my mind. As a result, I decided to make this little mortarboard!
#78 – Mini Cactus
Succulents are so trendy these days, and I thought I would love to join in on the fun! As always, I tend to be drawn towards things that are done in miniature, so when I sat down to tackle this project, I knew I wanted to make it small.
