I was fortunate enough to be invited over to dinner at a friend’s house for Easter long weekend, and I knew that I wanted to bring a dessert that matched the occasion. To me, lemon bars have that fresh zest that I associate with spring, so I figured this was a good time to try a new recipe!
Continue reading#375 – Basic Circle Scarf
I was doing a deep dive into my Ravelry account the other day, and I noticed that I had some very old projects that I had never written about. It’s a trippy feeling to look back on something I made over eight years ago and to see how far I have come, and what has stayed the same. I remember feeling so proud of this circle scarf, and feeling so special gifting it to my mom.
Continue reading#374 – Pasta Cooking Class
For my best friend’s bachelorette party, we decided to book a cooking class because she has always been a bit of a gourmand! While most cooking classes are a bit of a splurge money-wise, I think they’re really fun to do with friends since you get to stay busy, chat a little, and eat something yummy at the end.
Last year, I made a cross-stitch of the Edmonton skyline from a kit, and I mentioned that I wanted to make one for each city I lived in. I’m so excited to share that I’ve finally done it! It took me a second to think about what I would want in the skyline of Dawson Creek since there aren’t any skyscrapers or tall office buildings, but I hope and think that I’ve managed to catch the essence of the city.
I never really got the appeal of playing with slime, but when my babysitting family started begging me to make slime with them, I figured I had to give it a try. In fact, it was the kids who taught me how to do this craft! Their mother just laughed when she saw all the finished slime, but hey, she had three happy children when she got home.
I hate running. If you’ve ever spoken to me, you would know that I do not enjoy cardio, and if you told me a year ago that I would be running on the treadmill more than once a week, I would have told you that you were crazy. I guess that’s the funny thing about life though, nothing is set in stone.
I’ve recently finished two sweater projects, which for me, counts as a lot of knitting. I’m thinking that I will probably take a break from crochet and knitting for a while to recover, so you might see more posts about the other things I enjoy in my life. This week, I thought I’d talk about playing board games with my friends and family!
Continue reading#369 – Ginger Zip Sweater
I have been eyeing the Patagonia Synchilla sweater for a long time, mostly because I love the idea of a quarter-opening pullover. I haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet, but when I saw Joan call for testers on this gorgeous cable-knit quarter-zip sweater instead, I felt like this was the much better alternative for what I had been looking for. This way I could customize the colour however I wanted, while still keeping the benefits of the quarter-opening!
I really want to get better at sewing. Honestly, the thought of adding a zipper shouldn’t fill me with fear, but sure enough, I avoided this step of the project like the plague. Thankfully, there were a few handy YouTube tutorials, and I think that I managed a passable finished project!
Craft workshops bring me so much joy, so when I heard that there would be an opportunity for a macrame feather workshop in my town, I was thrilled! My only exposure to macrame has been making the hemp bracelets from the early 2000s, so it was great to see what other designs can be made with the simple knot patterns. This particular workshop was hosted by Rhian from Dreamers.
