#131 – Lace Chrevron Scarf

A few weeks ago at the Edmonton Fibre Frolic, I picked up this gorgeous skein of yarn from Knitley Road, and I’ve been waiting for the perfect project to use it for. I knew that I wanted to make a thank-you gift for my supervisor, so after browsing Ravelry, I settled down on what I hope was the right pattern.

I loved the alternating sections of lacework and solid chevrons for this pattern. It also helped make this scarf work up surprisingly quickly!

To be honest, I’ve been having a really hard time with my placement. It’s been really humbling, because school has always been pretty easy for me, and this struggle has been something new for me. I’m eternally grateful that my supervisors have been kind and patient throughout this whole process, because I can’t even imagine this struggle with a less supportive team. My family and friends have been invaluable too, letting me cry it out when I need to and offering encouragement when I’m struggling with anxiety and self-doubt.

The number one thing that has helped keep me going is my faith that God is using this to teach me something. It took a lot of reflection, but I reached the conclusion that God is humbling me and reminding me of how inadequate I am without him. I’ve always struggled with pride, but in situations like this, it becomes pretty obvious that there’s nothing to be proud of.

Crochet has also been super soothing in keeping me sane(ish). It’s nice to feel small pieces of accomplishment in finishing a project and getting excited about new ideas and plans. Does crochet help you as well?

Until next time, happy crafting!
