#80 – Weaving

About a month ago, my Instagram feed proved to be too much of a temptation for me – I saw the BrickBubble Hand Loom kit, and I knew I had to try it!

To be completely honest, I had a hard time planning the design of my weaving. I like things to be predictable and orderly, so having all these different textures and yarn weights really threw me for a loop (no pun intended). This is where I turned to the Internet and its infinite wisdom.

I saw a lot of geometric designs, which satisfied my desire for order, but also balanced the fun mix of textures and yarns that I wanted to capture. I would have loved having a wider range of yarn weights, as I feel it would have helped make it “pop”. Here is my end result!

Honestly, I’m a bit divided about how I feel about the finished product, as part of me loves the colours, but another part thinks that I could have designed it better. I will definitely be playing around with this kit more in the future, so keep your eyes peeled for more posts on the topic!

Some of my goals include experimenting with different weaving patterns and blending colour changes more smoothly. I will say that I can easily see how weaving becomes another addictive hobby though, as the motion is really soothing.

Until next time, happy crafting!
