Confession: I’m supposed to be studying for my finals this week, but when I saw this mini octopus amigurumi, I couldn’t resist making it. It’s just so cute! I told myself that the mini size just meant that it would take less time, and besides, I deserved a study break! I’m not sure if I really do deserve a study break, but at least now I have a cute study buddy!

• 1/50 skein of Isaac Mizrahi Craft Beauty — a light weight (3) yarn (above: Fairy)
• 5g Loops and Threads Classic Fiber Fill
• 2 safety eyes (7.5 mm)
• Size E (3.5 mm) hook

I didn’t actually change anything of substance for this pattern. The only teensy change I made is that when I did my rounds of increases, I did two single crochet in a row before my increase stitch. It doesn’t make any difference, but I just find it easier to count that way. I also stuff before doing the final round of six stitches, but again, that’s a personal preference. Part of the appeal of this pattern for me was how clean and minimalistic the octopi looked, so I also left the mouth off to keep the octopus as clean as possible.

This is the second pattern from Justine that I’ve tried, with the first being her adorable star, and I have to say that her simple style really speaks to me. I can’t wait to see what other patterns she comes up with in the future!
