#60 – Tea Cup Container

As a pretty messy person, I’m always on the lookout for good / cute storage solutions. When I saw this amigurumi tea cup, I immediately thought that it could work as a great way to store small jewelry or other trinkets if I didn’t stuff the cup.

  • 1/10 skein of Premier Yarns Cotton Fair – a fine weight (2) yarn (above colour: Baby Blue)
  • 2.00mm hook

I only followed the pattern for the main part of the cup and the handle, as I wanted to leave the inside of the cup empty so that I could use it for storage! I used a smaller hook than recommended, but as always, I like the smaller stitches.

I didn’t have time to add as many facial features as I originally wanted, but I love the idea of crocheting the cheeks. I plan to make those in the future, as well as to use embroidery thread to sew the eyes on as well. Since I want to use the cup for storage, I didn’t want to use safety eyes, since the backs stick out, and could catch on the things being stored inside the cup.

I plan to use it for jewellery and to keep it on my desk, as it is cuter than leaving everything on a pile, which is the current situation. I like things that are both cute and functional, and this fills both criteria perfectly!

Until next time, happy crafting!
