#53 – Christmas Tree

Growing up, we always used to use the same old fake Christmas tree year after year until one year when my mom randomly brought home a real Christmas tree. We’ve never gone back!  I love the smell, and it just makes me feel infinitely more festive. When I found this pattern, I got that same tingly Christmas cheer, so I knew I had to try it!

  • 1/50 skein of Paintbox Yarns Simply DK – a light weight (3) yarn (above colour B: Light Caramel)

To be fair, this pattern was in Swedish, so I was relying pretty heavily on Google Translate to makes sense of everything. Despite the language barrier, I loved how each row of branches came together!

It didn’t seem like there was a pattern for the trunk, so I just used the back loops of the last row of branches, and did single crochet all the way around. That gave me 24 stitches in a round. After four rows, I started to do decreases, going to 18 stitches, then 12 stitches, and finally six.

I would love to add more decorations to this little guy, as he is practically begging for some Christmas “lights” and mini ornaments. I ended up giving it away as part of a Secret Santa gift exchange, so hopefully the new owner is willing to give it the love it deserves!

Do you guys have any Christmas traditions when it comes to decorating your Christmas tree? We normally use red ribbons!

Until next time, happy crafting!
