Apparently the snow last weekend wasn’t an anomaly, because it snowed again! While I do love winter, I have a bit of regret that autumn only lasted about a week in Edmonton. Still, the bright side of the snow is that it gave me another excuse to whip up a new scarf, and this time it’s my own design!

• 2 skeins of Lion’s Pride Woolspun – a bulky weight (5) yarn (above: City Lights Mix)
• Size N (10.00 mm) hook

Pattern by tick-tock hobbies

(abbreviations: SC: single crochet / HDC: half-double crochet / DC: double crochet)

1. Chain one hundred and two stitches (102 stitches)
2. The first two stitches in the beginning will count as a SC. Start in the third stitch from the hook and do a HDC and a DC. *Skip two stitches. Do a SC, HDC and DC into the next stitch*. Repeat from * to * until there are three more stitches in the row. Skip two stitches. Do a SC in the last stitch of the row. (100 stitches)
3. Chain one and turn. This chain will count as a SC. In the second stitch from the hook, do a HDC and a DC. *Skip two stitches. Do a SC, HDC and DC into the next stitch*. Repeat from * to * until there are three more stitches in the row. Skip two stitches. Do a SC in the last stitch of the row. (100 stitches)
4. Repeat row 3 ten more times.
5. Using the ends of the yarn, use a whip stitch to connect the two ends to form a circle scarf.

I hope this pattern is simple enough for you guys to follow! Basically the cluster of SC, HDC and DC is always happening in the SC of the previous row. It works up very quickly due to the chunky yarn and big hook, so it’s great for gifting, especially as Christmas sneaks up on us.
