#43 – Mini Sheep

Life has been really busy lately, but I always enjoy the little pockets of time that I can squirrel away to crochet and craft. While less time can mean smaller projects, that doesn’t mean they can’t be cute too! This week, I can’t wait to show you an adorable miniature sheep!

Confession: I was super short on time as I was making this, so most of my modifications were due to time constraints rather than personal preference. I actually had to finish it while I met up with the gift recipient for dinner! Time management was clearly not my friend for this project.

I didn’t make the legs at all because I ran out of time, but it ended up working out! When I asked my friend if she wanted the legs, she said she thought it was cuter without. This way, the sheep looks like a big ball of fluff, if you’re into that kind of thing. Side note – this is why I love the bobble stitch so much – it just looks fun!

I also changed the ears, and in hindsight, I kind of wish that I hadn’t, because the ears that Sarah designed are so much cuter, and much more sheep-like. I just did a magic circle of six stitches, then did a round of increases to have twelve stitches before folding the circle in half and attaching them. I think these ears are better suited for a bear than a sheep, and I will take this as a lesson learned – not all amigurumi parts are interchangeable!

My friend claims that she likes this little guy the way he is, so I guess it still counts as a success! However, I’d love to revisit this pattern in the future when I’m not quite so rushed and give it the love it deserves.

Until next time, happy crafting!
