#33 – ARIEL Crop Top

Summer is honestly gorgeous in Edmonton! The sun stays up until 10PM and it’s perfect for adventures like music festivals. My friend Rachel is planning on going to Chasing Summer, and she asked me if I could help her make a crop top to wear! I was so excited to try a new pattern, and I hope she likes it.

  • 1 skein of Isaac Mizrahi Craft Beauty – a light weight (3) yarn (above colour: Fairy)
  • Size F (3.75 mm) hook

I thought this pattern was almost perfect when I saw it! It was so cute and playful at the same time, so I knew I didn’t want to change much. Instead of doing a zig-zag between the two cups, I just closed it up with slip stitches for a cleaner look.

I also changed up the band so that it ties, rather than being one continuous piece. I think this makes it easier to adjust between different people! I did 28 rows of the half-double crochet before starting my pattern for the decrease. I did one decrease at the beginning of every two rows to create a tapered look, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!

When my best friend saw this colour, it reminded her of Ariel from The Little Mermaid! Since Justine never gave her pattern a name, I decided to go with the ARIEL crop top!

Rachel has a pretty awesome lifestyle blog – it’s the perfect mix of food pictures, funny stories and the cutest perspective on life. If you have some time, you should definitely check it out!

Until then, I hope you have a lot of adventures of your own, and I hope they make you as happy as crochet makes me!
