As another component of my hand-made Christmas, I made these Bearded Beanies as gifts for my brothers! I was super excited to make these for them as I thought they would get a kick out of them. I had to sacrifice a little bit of sleep to get them ready for Christmas day, but it was worth it to see their faces!
- 1/2 skein of Caron Simply Soft – a worsted weight (4) yarn (from left to right: Sunshine, Country Blue)
- 1/16 skein of Premier Cotton Fair – a fine weight (2) yarn (from left to right: Cream, Slate Gray)

I did make a few alterations to the beard pattern, just because I ended up being a little confused by Row 10. In the Medium sized pattern, I ended up chaining ELEVEN while still skipping nine stitches. This gave me the correct amount of stitches to work into for Row 11. Similarly, in the Large sized pattern, I ended up chaining THIRTEEN while skipping eleven stitches. I also made an additional change in Row 11 for the Large size, and I only did SIX repetitions of the *bobble, sc* rather than seven. Other than these super minor changes, I loved how straightforward the pattern was!
Because these were gifts, I wasn’t sure if my brothers would permanently want the beard attachments, so I sewed buttons onto the beanie portion so that they can remove the beards and just wear the beanies on less exciting days.
In the future, I would recommend putting the buttons on the BEARD so that they can still be placed underneath the beanie. With the beards attaching on the outside of the beanie, sometimes the ends droop a little and it detracts from the look. Still, I’m really happy with the way they turned out!
