#52 – Reindeer

‘Tis the season! When I was little, one of my favourite Christmas books was “Olive the Other Reindeer”, by Vivian Walsh and J. Otto Seibold. I always thought it was so clever, and as a result, I’ve always had a soft spot for reindeers, even if Olive wasn’t exactly a typical “reindeer”. When I saw this reindeer pattern, I knew I had to give it a whirl.

I wish that I could’ve used yarns that were all the same weight, but I didn’t have time to run to Michael’s this week, so I had to work with what I already had. The different weights really changed things, especially for the antlers, so I definitely regret this modification. To me, the changes in stitch size were very noticeable.

In hindsight, I also wish I could’ve shortened the arms a bit, as I feel like they are a teensy bit out of proportion with the legs. Still, I found this pattern very cute! I love the little touches that Serah designed, from the antlers to the red nose, to the tiny tail in the back.

With Christmas coming up, this was basically the perfect pattern, and I think it would also make an adorable gift! My mom has already laid claim to this particular bad boy, but I’d love to try this pattern again on a day where I have the right yarn.

Until next time, happy crafting!
